 Bumble Bee Tag

 

Bumble Bee Tag is a fast paced, nonstop game where the kids are flying around! There are 2 different teams in this game, the "Wasps" and the "Bumblebees".  This is an exciting tag based game that enhances cooperation, strategy, and endurance.

 Materials Needed
-Hula Hoops
-Cones
-Pool Noodles
-Whistle

Capture the Flag is a territory based strategy game where the goal is to be in control of all the nerf-balls.  This game involves a great deal of individual decision making, but it focuses mainly on cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, communication, and cooperation.

 Materials Needed
-Two different colors of flags
-Cones
-Nerf balls (even number)

 Champion

 

Champion is a basketball shooting game that can be played with athletes of all skill levels.  

 Materials Needed
-Two basketballs
-One basketball hoop

 Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs is a soccer based game where the Long-Neck dinosaurs are protecting their eggs (soccer balls) against the predatory Raptors. The Raptors are trying to knock the eggs out of the nest (coned area).  This game is great for practicing basic soccer skills such as dribbling and passing. This is a quick, fast paced game where team cooperation, strategy, and fun collide.

 Dodgeball

 

Dodgeball is an intense game that helps improve throwing accuracy and agility.  In this game students throw foam filled balls back and forth at each other, trying to hit one-another to get each other out.

 Four Corners

 

Four corners is a great recess game that can be played outside on the blacktop.  All you need are 5 people and one four square court.  If you do not have a four square, you can draw one on the ground with chalk and that will work just fine.

-Four Square court
 Frisbee Bocce Ball

This is a great game that is great for a Frisbee unit. All you need for this game is 2 or more players.  Each player will have a Frisbee and each group will have 1 tennis ball. The tennis ball gets thrown by a player, and then all players try to throw their Frisbee as close as they can to the tennis ball. This is a fantastic, slow paced game that promotes social interaction, strategy, and fun!

-Frizbees (different colors)

 Frisbee Golf

Frisbee Golf is a great game to play in a large open space.  The object of the game is to land your Frisbee in the "hole" (hula-hoop), in the least amount of throws possible.  After a certain number of holes, usually 9 or 18, the person with the overall lowest number of throws total wins the game.

 Gladiator

Gladiator is a fast-paced game where agility, speed, strategy and luck are your ally.  In this "every man for himself" game, players are simultaneously defending the flags they are wearing as well as trying to pull off the flags of their opponents.  The goal is to be the last gladiator standing with their flags.

-Cones
 Gladiator Dodgeball

This is a an "every man for himself" dodgeball game which requires agility, spatial awareness, peripheral vision, coordination, and accuracy to come out as the winner.  It is a fast paced, up-tempo game that goes by quickly which allows for multiple opportunities to compete and potentially win the game.

H.O.R.S.E.

H.O.R.S.E. is a fun, creative basketball based shooting game that can be played with 2 or more players. This is a great game to be played during a basketball unit or as a stand alone game during recess. In H.O.R.S.E., the object is to NOT accrue the five letters, H-O-R-S-E. Often, the shots taken in H.O.R.S.E. are trick shots and shots designed to make the other players miss.

Kickball

Kickball is a great game that helps to promote and build cooperation amongst its players. This game is quick and easy to set-up, and the rules for the game are almost exactly like baseball or softball. Instead of hitting a ball with a bat, you will use a red ball and kick it. This game is a P.E. classic and is engaging for all who play!

 Knockout

Knockout is a basketball based game that requires quickness, a good shot, and being able to keep calm under pressure. This game is perfect for small groups or for large crowds. The set up for this game is easy, and the excitement and fun you will have when you play will be enormous! This is a great game to be played during recess or as part of a basketball unit.

 Medic

Medic is a strategy based dodgeball game that is exciting and requires constant engagement for your team to win!  Each team has 1 Medic, 2 Bodyguards, and the rest of the players are Warriors. The goal of the game is to hit the other team's Medic with a  foam-ball. Once the Medic is hit, the game is over. This game is great for team cooperation, communication, and more!​

-Some type of Stick or Poop Noodle
Minefield

This game is a combination of Sharks and Seals and Dodgeball.  The goal of the game is for the Seals to make it back and forth across the ocean as many times as it takes until they are the last Seal still swimming! This is a fun, engaging game for all students, even when a student gets "out" of the game.

 Pin Down

Pin down is an exciting game that involves throwing accuracy as well as a good strategy for protecting your pin.  The object is to be the last person with your pin still standing.

 Punt, Pass & Kick 

Here students can learn the best techniques for punting, passing, and kicking a football off a tee for distance and accuracy.

 Rainbow Parachute

The rainbow parachute is one of the most fun activities for kids to play at PE.  There are many different things you can do while using it that promote body movement and entertainment.

-Balls or anything you would like to bounce up (stuffed animals/rubber chickens)

 Satellite

Satellite is a dodge ball throwing game where students are able to try and knock down the opponents satellites to win the game.  The satellites are built with hula hoops and they can be rebuilt during the game in order to keep the team alive.

 Sharks & Seals

 

Sharks and Seals is a tag based game where athleticism, strategy, speed, agility, and a little bit of luck are needed to win. This is a game that can be played with the entire class, or multiple classes.  The larger the number of players, the more fun and challenging it will be.

 Sharks & Dinosaurs

 

Sharks and Dinosaurs is a soccer-based spin-off of Sharks and Seals.  The main idea is to use versatility and ball control to get your ball to the safe beach, without getting it kicked out by a player in the middle (shark).

 Speed & Agility Ladders

 

Speed and agility ladder training is to improving your footwork and is great for almost all sports.

 Materials Needed

Steal the bacon.png
 Steal The Bacon

 

Steal the Bacon is a basketball based game that requires both individual skill and quickness, as well as teamwork.  If your number is called out, you must run and grab your basketball and score it in your hoop before the other team scores in their hoop.

-2 Basketball hoops
-Cone or ball stand (optional)
