Rules of the Game
- With two players, player #1 is allowed to shoot from anywhere on the court. If he makes the shot, then player #2 must duplicate the
same shot from the same position. If player #2 misses, he receives the first "letter" from the word "horse" - an "H".
- However, if player #1 missed his original shot; then player #2 would be free to shoot from anywhere on the court and, if the shot is
made, this forces player #1 to try and duplicate the made shot.
- A player loses the game once they miss enough shots to spells the word H.O.R.S.E.
- When there are 3 or more players, when a shooter makes a shot, the number player that is numbered after the shooter will attempt
the shot. If they are able to duplicate the shot, then the player after them must also duplicate the shot. The player that first missed
the shot will receive a letter.
- After a player misses a shot, then next player then becomes the shooter and is allowed to shoot from anywhere. If all players are
able to duplicate the shot, the original shooter will then choose a new position or type of shot to attempt.
- In some variations, control of the ball will cycle indefinitely until one player gets a letter. In this case, the person who made the
original shot could wind up with a letter, if he’s the first one to miss.
You can also try these fun variations:
1. O-U-T or P-I-G: Having fewer letters will help the game to be completed faster.
2. Tipping, or "tip-horse": The player whose turn is immediately after the shooter may tip the ball back into the basket on a miss,
giving the shooter an extra letter.
3. Variation; this is when once you have successfully made a certain type of shot, you are not allowed to attempt that same style of
shot. For example, if you successfully made a free-throw shot, you are not allowed to shoot a free-throw shot again when you are
the shooter. You can do any other shot you have not made yet, be creative!
